A pre-festival concert, within the 3rd Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival program, is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Norway in Cyprus, to offer the opportunity to the public to listen to Jazz Jam, uniting Norwegian musicians together with their local counterparts from both communities.
The pre-festival concert will present the renowned band Duetrost from Norway and two outstanding Cypriot musical talents; Lefteris Moumtzis and Nihat Ağdaç. The artists will jam together and combine their unique styles; setting an artistic example of intercultural collaboration; in celebrating the inauguration of this year’s Buffer Fringe Festival.
The Duetrost is a band from Norway which brings together Hakon Aase, violin and voice, Fredrik Karwoswski, acoustic guitar and Knaerten Simonsen on drums and percussion. All three are young and emerging musicians and graduates of the Norwegian Academy of Music.
Lefteris Moumtzis is a Cypriot musician, composer and producer, living in Nicosia, Cyprus. Apart from his solo releases, and various collaborations, he is the founder of the independent record label Louvana Records and the artistic director of Fengaros Music Festival, Music Village Fengaros and Lefkosia Loop Festival.
Nihat Ağdaç is a Cypriot musician, graduate of Royal Academy of Music in London. He started playing the violin at the age of eleven and moved to Ankara for further studies when he was thirteen. Nihat joined the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Turkey after his graduation, he was also a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, Orchestra Purpur, Verbier Festival Orchestras and had guest appearances with the City of Birmingham Symphony and London Symphony Orchestras.
