Yoga Master Class with Yogeswari
Journey towards the Joy through Jivamukti practice
by Taliya Khafizou
Master Class held with Yogeswari Azahar in Yoga Dharma Shala on October, 25 has not only been a special event in the history of our beloved Cyprus. It has become a very precious life moment for everyone, involved with it.
Deep content of this yoga practice – aimed not only to strenghen your body but also to engage the innermost of your self in the process of development – made me feel both relaxed and energized. It did what it aimed to do – opened the sorce of endless happiness and energy which exists inside each of us.
Journey toward the Joy through Jivamukti practice started with beautiful chants. Yogeswari played an Indian traditional instrument, and we sang some Sanskrit mantras sharing the company of each other and feeling the belonginess to something special and precious….
Yogeswari enriched our practice with Jivamukti Teachings that had special Focus of the Month. It was said that beyond the Facade of Human Being one finds the Ananda, “bliss”. The essence of our souls. Through love and devotion to the God do we purify ourselves and reveal that source of the bliss more.
“We are clothed in our gender, ethnicity, religion, prejudicies, and mainly self-obsessed interests.” (Sharon Gannon, Guru of Jivamukti Yoga)
Façade consisting of psychological patterns, habits of thinking, outer image may cover our innermost, but it is neither the truth nor the source of happiness, as Yogeswari Azahar stated.
The whole Yoga Practice was rhythmic like Music. Yogeswari counted for us and pronounced the words “inhale” and “outhale” as if they were the part of the mantras. She did not just say them. She chanted.
She was not just leading and teaching us, sharing her experience and mastership. I felt myself being a part of the Yoga Orchestra where Yogeswari was a director.
She directed all of us with her rhythm and energy. The woman of strength and softness. Of wisdom and kindness.
We started the physical practice with “kapalabhati” breath. “Kapala means skull. And bhati – shine. So kapalabhati breath brings energy to the mind, the shine to the head”, – Yogeswari told.
Sitting tall and staying straight, breathing with my diaphragm, nostrils and even throat, I could hear my “pranayama” distinctly! This sound reminded me of the seashore flow. As if I were at full sea, on the beach.
Luch green trees rustled behind the opened windows, crickets wistled and murmured their own “mantras”, and fresh Cyprus air created the veil of freshness and warmness in the room.
“Pace your Breath” – Yogeswari told us, reminding that pranayama exercising and breathing is vital to yoga practice and human activity in general.
The physical aspect of the practice consisted of active and energetic asana movements. I felt my body being satisfied, thankful and cleansed.
Yogeswari thought us many things beyond simply physical practice. Mainly, how to achieve the inner spiritual peace and happiness in the framework of Jivamukti`s Focus of the Month.
I remember what I felt when Yogeswari approached me and checked my posture – her touch was so gentle and soft, that I felt deep relaxation in the muscles. I could also feel the strength and warmness of her palms alongside with the scent of some Indian herbs, permeating our “yogic” air. Sweet and invigorating….
At the moment when we were lying in Shavasana – the pleasant music was telling kindly and peacefully: “The Sun shines for everyone, the Rain rains for everybody”. Yogeswari commented: So does the sun of the bliss and knowledge – it exists for every human being on the Earth, in an endless and generous stream.
Master Class with Yogeswari has been the moment to concentrate on yourself. The moment to think over the life. To skip everyday problems and bustle.
I say it truly because, as Yogeswari stated, the Truthness is the key to happiness and purity since the God is an Absolute Truth.
This practice gives you something that you won`t forget for the rest of your life. It will change you. It will charge you. You just have to make this Choice and take this Chance.
As Aristotle said: “Choice not the Chance determines your Destiny”.
Jivamukti Yoga Practices in Dharma Shala on the 25 & 26th of October have shed more light on this Journey toward the Joy. You try to leave away egoism, ignorance, fear – nourishing love and benevolence, and developing yourself, you aspire to the God.
We wished Freedom, Peace and Happiness to every human being at the end of the Practice.
