Ms Demet Özdemir stated about “Women`s leadership: Time for Change”, underlining the need for expansion of women`s activities, their involvement in social, political life, and the equal rights with the men.
Günther Meinel, the Chairman of DMW Diplomats International Organisation, mentioned in his turn that he realizes the importance of such a change and as a leader of diplomatic organization appoints women as well as men on highly important positions. Günther Meinel told about the “emotional” nature of woman and “technical” of the man, reflecting upon the necessity to incorporate the both.
Dr. Serhat Akpınar, the Chancellor of Girne American University and the Chairman of Diplomats Organisation of TRNC, then held a highly inspiring and informative speech, addressing to the vast audience of “One Step Ahead” summit, including diplomats, ambassadors, CEO’s, GAU’s academic, administrative staff, and valuable students. The 7th Panel was introduced by the speakers from international scene under the title “Sustainable Human Rights” – Dr. Gerhard Prengel, Ms Sibel Safi and the Lawyer Fezile Osum enriched the prolific discussion of the summit. Eminent personality of media scene, Mr Sami Özuslu, led through this panel as a Moderator.
Dr. Gerhard Prengel, in regard to human rights, has mentioned: it is always important to take into account “was oben gemacht haben, und was dann unten gefüllt haben” meaning “what has been done above, and what then has been felt below”.
Honourable guest of the Annual Summit, Dr. Gerhard Prengel, also stated that, coming from Germany, he was surprised by Cyprus, its nature and beauty, calling the island as “ein wunderschönes Land” – the wonderful country.
Both Dr. Günther Meinel anf Dr. Gerhard Prengel stated about future actions the DMW Organisation will undertake in regard to Cyprus. In order to enhance current situation on the Turkish side of the island they are going to make their best, as DMW Organisation, to direct more German tourists to TRNC. Dr. Prengel stated that Cyprus is not well-known on tourism market of Germany, so there is a need to make it one of the major tourist destinations.
Meanwhile, Dr. Günther Meinel said that Cyprus should be ready for such an influx of German tourists not only physically but also in terms of the language. He stresses upon the necessity of German language studies in Cyprus to be developed and promoted.
At the end of the Summit, the Chairman of DMW International Organisation, Dr. Günther Meinel, expressed his closing remarks, honouring the guests of event by his highly inspiring speech. Dr. Meinel stated that the Unity of Greek and Turkish parts is possible yet challenging to reach, especially if analysing all the previous discussions of the summit, by President of TRNC, Mr Mustafa Akıncı and by other eminent speakers, and if taking into account the current situation of the world.
Dr. Meinel stated that EU is currently in a very weak condition (“in der sehr schwäche condition”) and most probably will be unable to make a serious change in regard to Cyprus in nearest future: European Union needs to handle the overwhelming refugee problem right now, in addition to many other problems it has, unfortunately.
However, DMW International Organisation is ready to enhance Germany – Turkey relationships, is willing to support Turkey as well as Turkish Cyprus immensely, and create a sort of unofficial, yet highly effective union between two super-powers. Germany and Turkey, if acting together, will be able to enhance the situation of North Cyprus. Such a cooperative organisation will make its way far beyond local arena – it will go throughout Europe, spreading the wings across the world.
Success, according to Dr. Meinel, is in so called “selbstständigkeit” of North Cyprus, meaning in autonomous, independent condition of TRNC. It needs to gain the world recognition as “Land Nord Zypern”, as country of North Cyprus. Dr. Günther Meinel has expressed his sincere hope for better future of TRNC, and truly justified the title of the summit, “One Step Ahead”, by his highly effective, thoughtful speech, full of valuable solutions for Cyprus issue.
