Will They Get Rewarded?
Despite the success of Turkish team, it was regretting to hear that Turkey’s Amputee Football Team won’t be rewarded for their victory.
What was the reason ?
The reason the team won’t have any rewards or honarary salary is the specific regulations.
The first obstacle is that Amputee Footballs does not count as Paralympic Sport Branch.
The second provision in regulations states that at least 15 countries have to join the tournement. The last tournament, where the Turkish team crowned the championship, consisted of 12 countries.
Because of these reasons, regulations do not let Turkey’s Amputee Team to be rewarded.
During the last statement of the official speech, it has been clarified that Turkey’s Amputee Team will be rewarded 75 Cumhuriyet Gold to each player due to 25522 numbered judgment which was published on 14 July, 2004 in official media outlet.
In this judgment it is clarified that ‘successful athletes or teams may be rewarded even though regulation rules are unsuitable’.
Therefore, the success of Turkish Team in European Amputee Football Championship has been great enough to even beat some of the regulation rules, rewarding each player with the material support.
